Yamaha SG-2
We are happy to offer this first year of production Yamaha SG-2 for sale. A very special guitar indeed, the SG-2 was one of the first solid body guitars made by Yamaha (alongside the SG-3,5 and 7). Debuting in 1966, in a time when Japanese made guitars weren't held in such a high regard as they are today, the SG-2 wasn't hugely successful upon it's launch and was dropped from production in 1971.
There's no hiding the Jazzmaster/Jaguar influence that runs through the SG-2. Sporting a separate rhythm circuit with roller controls and a floating tremolo. Stylistically the guitar sits more in the offset Gibson SG camp. We think it looks extremely cool! The painted black headstock pairing with the sunburst body is something we've not seen before, but would love to see again!
Spec:
- Maple neck
- Rosewood fingerboard
- 22 frets
- 2x Yamaha Single-coil pickups
- 3-way selector

- Master Tone
- Toggle for rhythm circuit
- Volume and Tone controls for rhythm circuit

Our old Yamaha is in excellent condition for a guitar of this vintage, I hope I still look this good at 60 years old! Some age related marks are present but nothing major. We've rewound the neck pickup to it's original spec as it was dead. Freshly set up with Daddario 11's and ready to go!
