Yamaha SA-15D
A seriously cool and unique electric from Yamaha! Produced in the late 60's, the Yamaha SA-15 is a fully hollow electric guitar with a wild aesthetic and cool tone! The design is beautiful, sweeping wave like curves are present in both horns and the F hole. The checkerboard binding throughout the body is a thing of beauty.
The pickups are very special in this guitar, they are actually single-coil pickups that use anisotropic ferrite magnets instead of Alnico/Ceramic magnets. Yamaha experimented with these magnets to try and create noiseless pickups (bare in mind this is in the 60's), they aren't totally noise free but sound fantastic and thicker than your usual single coil. More like a P-90/100 to our ears.
