Squier Contemporary ST-702 HH
Introducing the Squier ST-702—a uniquely cool and remarkably rare gem in the world of guitars. This model stands out as one of the earliest contemporary Stratocasters offered by Fender Japan, making its debut in the 1983 catalog. Predating Floyd Rose style tremolos on Fender branded guitars, the ST-702 was equipped with a standard ST type bridge but locked and fine tuned at the top. The frets are larger and the guitar is equipped with 2 full fat Dragstar humbuckers.
Our favourite thing about this guitar is the way it is wired. It's set up with 2 Humbuckers, 3-way Switch, Master Volume and Master Tone. The second tone control is a 3-way rotary switch that works like this. Position 1: Bypass Position 2: Slight boost of the selection pickup(s) Position 3: Adds 1 coil from the pickup that isn't selected (e.g. If you were in the bridge position on the 3-way and moved the rotary knob to position 3 it would activate the far coil of the neck pickup). Wild right? And that's how it left the factory.

Our old ST-702 is in great shape for a guitar of this vintage. A couple of marks here and there (pictured) but nothing major. Freshly set up with Daddario 10's and ready to go! Knobs are mismatched and not original (it's how it came and we like the idea of keeping it how it was for the last years of its life). Everything else is original to the guitar.
